VEILGUARD IS HERE AND GODS I AM SO EXCITED.
I’ve already talked about how much this series means to me on this newsletter. And though I worried that I would get into a depressive funk due to not having anything to play between finishing my Inquisition replay and Veilguard releasing, oh wow did I not expect it to get that bad. My poor partner has been dealing with me being extra clingy lately, as my brain weasels were strong without something to hyperfixate on. And, like I’ve discussed here, too, I’m not sure why I can’t just switch to hyperfocus on something else. But, no longer a problem, as come Sunday, I’ll be playing Veilguard!!
But Nicole, it comes out today, you point out. On Halloween. You’re really going to make yourself wait longer, after you’ve been waiting a DECADE?
Yes, I am. For Sunday, November 3rd, is my birthday! And between Halloween, birthday shenanigans, a surprise visit from a friend out-of-town, my partner’s first charity stream on Friday and trying frantically to get everything written and scheduled on various platforms, I just know I would be unhappy to start Veilguard and only be able to play for an hour or two at a time. Not when I know that, on my birthday, the only thing I have to do is walk my dog and then I can play uninterrupted for as long as I fucking want—something that will continue through Wednesday night, since I took the Monday-Wednesday following my birthday off for this very reason.1
A few more days delay to start this game that will then end up on a four day, non-stop binge is so fucking worth it.2
All that said, I did want to let everyone know that I will be gone in Thedas for most likely the rest of the year. I don’t trust humanity or their ability to keep spoilers to themselves for more than two fucking seconds, so I am not getting on socials until I beat the game. And considering I am a completionist RPG gamer at my core who will spend entire gaming sessions picking up plants and exploring every corner of every map just to delay continuing the main quest a little longer; I have no doubt I can make this game last into the new year if I really want to.
So, expect my presence to be sparse, if present at all. I’ve still been working on plenty of things to share, which are scheduled out over the next two months. And I’d love to come back and find a ton of comments to respond to, on any of my platforms (linked below)! But, I didn’t want anyone to think I was ignoring them. I’m just really fucking committed to Dragon Age, okay?
With that, I need to go and finish all the other things I wanted to, so my birthday can be spent guilt-free in a NEW DRAGON AGE GAME. Omg it’s so real imma cry. 😭
Thanks for reading!
Here’s what I’m currently enjoying:
Glimmer: Halloween! My birthday! A week off work! NEW DRAGON AGE. BEST WEEK EVER. 😭
Currently Reading: Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes and every book that Jessie Mihalik has written!
Currently Playing: You already know the answer to this question. 💀
Currently Listening To: Veilguard soundtrack.
Until next,
Nicole 🖤

I don’t think ANYONE understands the level of excitement I feel of being able to binge this game for four days straight before I’m forced to return to “real life”. Plus, what better way to distract myself from the election for a bit?
And honestly, I’ve waited a fucking DECADE. I can wait three extra days.
So excited for you!! And yay for time off to play uninterrupted! That's awesome :D
